Submission Information
Thanks for choosing to submit an article to FOSSwire. Your article, once submitted, will be available in the submissions queue for other registered members to vote on. Editors will periodically schedule popular submissions to be displayed on the front page.
Once available for public viewing, your content will appear on our front page, feeds, and categories. Your information, including your name, web site if applicable, and a short bio will be available for readers under your article, so be sure to fill this information out! (My Profile > Edit My Profile.) See this article for an example.
Before you begin, please take a moment to read through these submission guidelines and rules. Please note that items covered in the FOSSwire Content and Posting Policy also apply to submissions.
Please do:
- Write an original article
- Give in-depth details
- If you’re writing a news article, try to cite sources and be as specific as possible
- If you’re writing a tutorial, give step-by-step instructions
- Use images! Articles are much easier to read if there are pictures.
- Cite sources and respect copyrights; keep a list at the bottom of your article of where you got images, media, and information from
- Edit your submission as needed
- Use the whiteboard to store thoughts and communicate with your editors
- Enjoy writing your article!
Please do not:
- Post malicious content
- Copy articles from other sites or omit credit
- Make a simple “linkback” article – original content only!
- Unless you can provide a new view on the source (editorial, alternative methods, etc)
Other information:
- Once posted to the front page, submissions can not be edited. If you notice an error or factual inaccuracy, feel free to report it to an editor.
- If you feel you need to post an update to your submission (ie, an update to a tutorial) it is probably more appropriate to simply submit a new article.
- Submission vote counts are not the deciding factor in post promotion to the front page. It is ultimately up to the editors’ and staff decision.
- You will be credited under your article when your submission is promoted using your name, website, and information in the “About Me” section of your profile.
- Note: Your content will be made available under the terms of the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license as defined in the FOSSwire Policy.
I’m Ready!
